Like millions of people all over the world, I’ve been staying safer at home for over a week now. I know a lot of people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and uncertain. Because of that, I wanted to offer some hope and gather thought leaders and people going through it to add some perspective. Which is why I FaceTimed Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina who are safely quarantined together after he tested positive for COVID-19. Idris fills me in on his journey and Sabrina reveals the result of her test after they decided to quarantine together. Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive,’ Sabrina told Oprah. Idris, in turn has mentioned that he still has no symptoms and feels fine adding that ‘It’s interesting and worrying that people are possibly carrying this disease and are seemingly okay, but can spread it easily,’ he said in regards to not having any symptoms.
Sabrina, who is also currently showing no symptoms also added that she ‘was fine‘ and ‘I don’t feel anything that would come to what people would now expect to be a symptom of coronavirus, which is really strange. It might change in the coming weeks, and we’ll keep everyone updated.’
ENTERTAINMENT IN ISOLATION
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing 👊🏾👊🏾 No panic. pic.twitter.com/Lg7HVMZglZ— Idris Elba (@idriselba) March 16, 2020
Both also disclosed how they’ve been keeping themselves entertained by playing video games, staying creative and spending quality time. Idris has apparently also started learning to play the guitar with Sabrina gushing that it was ‘romantic’.
On deciding to stick together
The couple came under fire last week for staying together after Idris tested positive for Coronavirus. Sabrina, who had not yet contracted the virus decided to stay with him. Four days ago he posted a video addressing that they had ‘calculated the risk.’
‘As much as we talked about her not coming to where I am, she did and wanted to and I love her even more for it and I would do the same for her,’ he said. ‘As much as I wanted her to keep safe, we presumed if I had it, the likelihood she would have it too, we calculated that risk,’ he went on.
‘When something like this is going on in the world, love is all you can get, who am I to turn down my wife’s support?’
IDRIS AND SOPHIE TRUDEAU
Elba who is also asthmatic, believes he contracted the virus on the 4th of March. He not only had contact with members on the set of his new Netflix film The Harder They Fall but also confirmed that he had come into contact with Sophie Trudeau, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Idris posed with Sophie at the We Day Charity event in Wembley.
Idris said: ‘It’s hard to say when I got the disease or when I contracted COVID-19, it’s hard to say when. I will say that I know I’ve been exposed to it from March 4.
‘That’s when the person that came up positive, that was the time I got in contact with that person.
‘So essentially, I could have been positive from March 4, but it’s hard to say when I contracted someone with corona, you can contract it at anytime but my known exposure was March 4.’
Sophie Trudeau has also tested positive for Coronavirus.
